I ordered Sonar Studio 5 on April the 3 on official cakewalk web site.
My account has been debited on April the 20.
I still haven't it today.
I learnt on May the 1st that the box had been shipped a first time but returned to them because of a missing digital door code.
Since then i try to solve this problem...
My conclusion :
- The Web form is totaly useless. I think what you wrote is not saved at all. It is just a link to a page "thanks for contacting us".
- They stop responding by email as soon as it begin to be embarassing. I have a mail from May the 4th of the support manager that say "I will go ahead and put that replacement order in for you today and will do my best to see if I can expedite it to get it to you any quicker."... Then he promises me a tracking number in the next 12 houres... since that nothing... He just ignore my emails. I asked for him over the phone but i was told "he is in meeting"....
- Their phone support is very nice but are only able to say "we are sorry", "thanks for you patience", "your parcel will ship at the end of the week, contact us next week if you still haven't received it".
I payed for this product.... for the first time since a long long time, I think about <DELETED> !!!!
I know this is a useless post, but if someone has an idea....

Thank you!
I also suffered from Cakewalk lack of responsibility.

You could:
A) Get the credit card company to cancel the charge (stating the reasons you've given here). (though if the box arrives, you will not be able to install and register it legally, it must be returned)
B) If the credit card company won't refund you, then contact the French Consumer Protection agency (I have no idea who that is, it's called Trading Standards in the UK). It's usually an agency connected to your local town council. They may file a formal complaint against the company.
What is "missing digital door code", out of interest?

Lucky hi-tech Parisians. In the UK you get a buzzer, usually connected to a broken intercom, and a length of lead piping in case visitors aren't who they say they are...
Anyway... back to Cakewalk...

Xavier,
I'd also suggest that you contact Cakewalk once again and ask them to send it via the U.S. Postal Service. I've always found the combination of the USPS and La Poste to be 100% reliable, and the postman always gets in. True, Cakewalk won't have any proof of delivery but, under the the circumstances, I'm sure they can make an exception.

Ixox, this guy has helped a few people on the Cakewalk forum when they were experiencing problems ordering the recent P5 discount (registered Sonar users had the chance to buy P5v2 for just $99
).
He's a marketing manager, but when people were having some difficulty with orders he stepped in to help and posted this email address:
(see below, Carl's post).
He may be worth contacting as a last ditch, rather than cancelling your payment!!
So does this mean you are moving over from Tracktion to Sonar? I did that last autumn, and found that although there is quite an initial learning curve when making the transition, it is well worth it. And once you get the hang of Sonar it is just as quick to use - some stuff is actually quicker.
Anyway, let us know how you get on, and erm, welcome to Sonar!

Thanks a lot for the suggestions and help...
I have already 3 emails adress.
I wait one more week then cancel... (I upgraded from Music Creator for 149Euros.)
Tracktion does not work anymore for me...
The audio thread stops every 10 seconds on my AMD dual core.
My last tracks were a nightmare to do !!!
I learnt by Beno himself that they don't test Tracktion with AMD X2
But they expect it to work with the new release of JUCE in the next version, that will be out in the future...
Each new release has a ridiculously small amount of new features...
Too bad...

Mackie don't test on AMD X2?
. Wow - that is deeply unprofessional. They do have some good beta testers, but very few of them. They obviously need to widen the testing program. Must have been very frustrating for you.
Anyway, good luck with your Sonar order. I do think that you will grow to really love it when it arrives! I'm on an Intel Core Duo processor, and the multicore support gives massive performance improvements here - I'm sure you will find the same (or better!).
Cheers.

Ixox,
Based on a similar thread on the Cakewalk forums, I believe that you are being already helped. If that is not the case, please email me: carljacobson at cakewalk dot com
Headquest, could you edit your post above so my email address does not get picked up by spam bots.
Thanks,
Carl
