no matter what i do with trash its really hard to fit any guitars in with it, what is my problem?

You got me! :D It's not exactly an amp-sim and it's rather
edgy but I've gotten pretty good results. Have you tried a
compressor after it?

I don't own trash. Is your problem that stuff sticks out too much, or disappears? I'd guess the latter. I often need to bandpass the crap out of distorted guitars, and then boost them at like 3k or so, to get them to be anything other than just background muck.

With all distortion plugs you maybe want to use an EQ to cut some freq's after it if you find it's taking up too much of the frequency spectrum.

In a full mix gutars can be hard to fit in without covering up other things. This gets harder with distortion of any kind I think. You mostly just have to analyze your track and figure out what role the guitar is to be playing and make it strong in that frequency area and back off in not so important spots. It's always kind of a balancing act for me. I dont think it's fair to blame any one plug. Guitars are just tough to mix sometimes. Same with piano. Dont even get me started with distorted pianos...
