Would someone be so kind to share his set of Fairlight freebie samples from Hollow Sun? Can't seem to find them anywhere.
Cheers,

Technically, this would be a breach of Zero-G's rights to exclusive use and distribution of those samples within their product 'Nostalgia' and anyone posting availability here is - potentially - at risk of action (as would KVR - potentially - for 'hosting' them).frankvg wrote:Would someone be so kind to share his set of Fairlight freebie samples from Hollow Sun?
No hissy fit here - just be careful!

There are still some here:
http://www.akaipro.com/arc_kotw.html
Not sure if that's all of them, though. I assume that Akai isn't violating any rights/trust, since those packs have been up on the web for a while (second time I posted that link here today, oddly enough).

Completely correct - those were licenced prior to 'Nostalgia'.shamann wrote:I assume that Akai isn't violating any rights/trust, since those packs have been up on the web for a while

I wonder how many would be willing to pay that amount of cash for it?

Prorec has a CD for $30 of just Fairlight samples.frankvg wrote:Don't really mind buying some samples but this 'Nostalgia' seems a bit too much for playing with a few fairlight samples.

No idea on their quality though. I had never downloaded any of the Hollowsun packs when they were up for donations, but even if inclined to buy them, I certainly wouldn't want them wrapped in NI's player (not meant as an offense, hollowsun. You do what you need to do, just speaking as a user).

Just out of curiosity... how much did you pay for the rights to re-distribute the Fairlight samples?hollowsun wrote:Technically, this would be a breach of Zero-G's rights to exclusive use and distribution of those samples within their product 'Nostalgia' and anyone posting availability here is - potentially - at risk of action (as would KVR - potentially - for 'hosting' them).

Anyway, I'm not an expert on these matters but the "Terms and Conditions" originally posted on the Hollow Sun website specifically states that sharing of the samples, by the downloader, is indeed allowed...
http://web.archive.org/web/200310081141 ... terms.html
Not sure which agreement would preclude which, should you choose to seek legal action against those that might share the samples they downloaded off of your site. Especially considering that you already granted them the permission to do so.TERMS AND CONDITIONS
All of us here at Hollow Sun just love the old gear and we're of an age that we once owned it (and foolishly got rid of it in the ongoing quest for 'something new' - big mistake !!).
We have subsequently bought the various commercially available CD-ROMs that claim to offer these classic instruments but quite honestly, they just don't cut it.... close but no cigar (as they say).
We have used our extensive experience and contacts to provide you with what we believe to be the most authentic representation of these classic instruments in a modern world. It's a labour of love on our part that earns us nothing but the occasional kind comment (reward in itself.... akmost!!). As such, please respect the altruistic spirit of the service offered at the Hollow Sun website.
The sounds available for download here are freeware. You may use them in your music freely and without restriction. If you use them in your work, Hollow Sun would welcome a credit (and a link to the Hollow Sun website) wherever possible.
You may also distribute the sounds to others but please give credit to Hollow Sun (and a link to the Hollow Sun website) wherever possible. If you edit the sounds in any way, please include this information.
Hollow Sun agrees in principle to the sounds available here to be included and 'showcased' on music magazine cover CDs and/or CD-ROMs but please contact Hollow Sun before proceeding.
The sounds available here are strictly not for re-sale and may not, under any circumstances, be sold in their own right or in an edited form or included in any commercial sound library or compilation on CD-ROM or any other such electronic media or on profit making websites, etc., without prior permission from and negotiation with Hollow Sun.

well, try www.dangerousbear.comfrankvg wrote:hollowsun wrote: No hissy fit here - just be careful!Don't really mind buying some samples but this 'Nostalgia' seems a bit too much for playing with a few fairlight samples.
they also have legally licensed parts of the hollowsun library and their 'Fuel' pack for Wusikstation has heaps (possibly all) of the hollow sun fairlight samples- good price too. they also have a 'classic samplers' product here- http://www.dangerousbear.com/samplers.html
with fairlight samples, but you would have to ask John which samples are in that particular pack.

I was granted permission by the original licence holder.John Vulich wrote:Just out of curiosity... how much did you pay for the rights to re-distribute the Fairlight samples?
The quotation you use is from an old web archive (look at the URL - web.archive.org ).John Vulich wrote:Anyway, I'm not an expert on these matters but the "Terms and Conditions" originally posted on the Hollow Sun website specifically states that sharing of the samples, by the downloader, is indeed allowed...

And.... that was then, this is now. I still have no issue with anyone sharing the current crop of freebies at Hollow Sun and/or converting them to any other format, whatever. I didn't in the days when the freebie collection was more extensive either but times have changed.
As I pointed out in my original reply, I am not having a strop over this (in fact, I am flattered that there is interest) - I was just pointing out that for any number of reasons, the situation has changed and that technically, distributing these samples is now potentially a breach.
