Do you remember some Trance tracks ?

They had this effect where they chopped some long notes, thus giving impression that they were a succession of short notes.

i think its called midi gate but i'm not sure.

can you recommend me a plugin to achieve this ?

thanks a lot,

Well, surprisingly it's generally called "Trance Gate" and can be achieved with either a MIDI gate or a gate with it's own sequencer.

EDIT: plugin for doing this: scuzzphut 6/ 6.5 is very nice for free, plus scuzzphut just did a payware one under a different moniket - which I haven't checked. All with their own sequencer.
mgTriggerGate has it's own seq too - but is underdeveloped.

MIDI gater and its bigger brother Skidder from dfx@smartelectronic are both excellent option if you want to trigger the gate via MIDI. Both free.

Mutli FX capable of doing that like Camelspace and Gat'r (I think Waveshaper too), offer more effects that can be controlled via the internal sequencer.
I use Lucifer for this type of stuff - as I do for almost any effect imaginable.

Take a look at: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1701.html

Plus, do a search for "trance gate" as mentioned above...there are many options.

thanks Spacefox and Torhan, I really appreciate your help :)

thanks for the plug, spacefox :-)

you can get my trancegate plugins scuzzphut6 and scuzzphut6.5-lite from the link in my signature.

ubergate is a trancegate-on-steroids plugin that I developed for Electronisounds. It's a trancegate with two chains of multi-fx, long pattern lengths and some neat routing options.

I own camelspace and it works on more than just trance.. you gotta mess with the presets..

You deserve it. Got a lot of use out of Scuzzphut 6 back in the day

(like mentioned before, I use Lucifer now for all my rythmic effects now. I just love a minimal set of tools)

Also try http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2372.html for a free semi-random trancegate
