Fruity Compressor, mda Dynamics, Blockfish and Tube Limit.
As far as sound for vocals.

Post

Blockfish is the best, Fruity compressor is the worst (those are the only two i have tried and fruitys just doesnt compare with block)

I've tried Fruity and the mda one, and Fruity is better. Classic Compressor is nice too, soemtimes better than the FL compressor.

I don't use it much, but why do you think Fruity compressor is worst (or for that matter the mda)? How about Fruity multiband?

You addin one there, or was Classic part of the hidden choices?
:hihi:

It's utterly subjective, and there are hundreds of other choices out there.

Post

Fruity comp is quite good, at least for me.

P.S. I think kjaerhus classic compressor is way nicer that the fruity compressor

While I don't think much of those on the list, except blockfish, I would like to suggest better options.

For clean yet good sounding free compression, chunkware vanilla compressor is tough to beat.

Instead of tube limit, you will do better with TLs SaturatedDriver, and Gclip, both capable of vocal fattening with great quality.

The rest on your list were kind of outdated bread and butter stuff that has been bettered years a go.

Of course, like always, YMMV.

I actually like the Vanilla one the best but it has 64 samples of latency so I did not want to use it with FL Studio because it does not have auto PDC. Does anyone actually use the manual PDC stuff. I'm trying to make music not balance my checkbook. When you get to different delays on several different tracks you have to break out the calculator. Actually the Fruity Compressor has this latency as well. Moreover, the fruity compressor is the same as the one included in Sonar with the Sonitus bundle.

actually i think the fl compressor is sonitus v1, while the stuff in sonar is v3

Would mentioning Waves Rvox make me really unpopular?

i'm not familiar with the mda, but I've used all of the others and it's not a one size fits all situation

I'll use Blockfish on isolated kicks and basses. It tends to add some blur and thump.
I'll use Tube Limit on thin pads and weak signals. It can add a lot of volume and a little high end.
to my ears Fruity Compressor (which is an Ultrafunk/Sonitus lite product) sounds great across a drum kit. It comes across to me like a dark colored compressor.(maybe that's just the FLS colors)

it all depends
since they're all free or reasonable, what exactly is the point here?
