For me:

FLstudio -- time signatures changing dont represent right in the playlist

no freezing (minor thing)

no automatic pdc ---

what about your hosts?

what i like:

easy workflow with patterns

quick vsti selection and previewing

stable

vsti slicer

etc

SONAR:

1. Little workflow things. I'd to be able to replace a softsynth in such a way that it updates all associated MIDI and Audio tracks as well. At the moment, if you want to swap out a synth you have to delete it from the rack, add another one, go into each and every MIDI and Audio track updating the In and Out fields to point to the new synth.

2. On a similar note, when deleting a synth from a project, it would be nice to have the option of removing associated MIDI and Audio tracks at the same time. Once again, has to be done manually.

3. VST adapter can't send pad names to sonar, so drum synths like RMIV can't have their preset pad names shown on the Piano Roll. (SONAR can do this via ReWire with Reason ReDrum)

Otherwise, it's great. Lots of nice things like Track Presets, etc.

Swap the order of effects.

Do not scan every !@%@#%$ plugin every time I open host.

Get rid of those stupid proprietary dialogue boxes that don't work like normal Windows!

Stop warning me when I export a mono file!

Smoother Zooming.

That's all I can think of off the top. Apart from that, smokin' program.

Cubase/Nuendo, really like:

• VST Mixer, it's what sold me in the 1st place. Looks and feels like a real mixer, and I love the fact that you can have five customizable views.
• Song order playlist; mix your A/B's with your C's and back again, all non-destructively.
• I can preview, apply and undo effects in realtime, while the engine is running. Can also insert effects/synths while running too (sometimes not wise, though!)
• Keyboard Shortcuts for literally any funtion - Type'n'Search feature also.
• Macros.
• All audio edits can be undone, modified or replaced, even years later.
• REX and ACID support.

I could go on and on. I've been using it for so long, I'm just so dang fast in it now, the thought of using anything else makes me nauseous. I would like to see Cubase finally put back every last one of the MIDI features they took away from VST32 and get rid of the cobwebs.

OH! I would like to see Cubase export audio more quickly, a la Tracktion. It's sad how much faster that little blue bastard is at exporting audio.

Oooooh...sneaky, JBM. Sorry to hear about the insomnia. I used to get it a lot, then I quit smoking. Not sure if that's of any use.

btw, how does acid support, tempo changes and time sig changes work in cubase?

To work as advertised.

I'm not expecting zero bugs, but some software seems to be getting more buggy rather than less these days.

I just discovered another new bug in my current host. A fix is on its way supposedly. But really a year after being released, its only just being fixed?

I can workaround it, but it would be nice if this and many other features actually worked.

And my last host had terrible problems with GUI updates, midi timings and didn't even record aftertouch. And they still haven't sorted that one.

Currently I'm using FL Studio, and this would be welcome:

1. create + save a "track". with a track being :
- a sequence of (MIDI) notes played by a sampler or (vst) instrument
- vst fx applied to that sequence
- MIDI controller information I've assigned to various instrument/fx parameters
- bpm info
- harmonic info (e.g. the scale of a melody)

2. create a new 'song' in which I set a base bpm and scale

3. in that new song I could reload any of the previously saved tracks. Upon reloading a track the host would :
- detect bpm differences and ask what to do (e.g. play the track in its own bpm, or in the song bpm, or morph the song bpm into the track bpm, ...)
- detect duplicate controller assignments and propose solutions.
- detect scale differences and propose harmonically intelligent solutions.
