bfd with cubase. driver issue help

first ever post
guys.i have loaded bfd drums into my computer. it seems to default to using the asio multimedia driver that my cubase vst24 3.7 is using. Even if after bfd has loaded i change its driver,it seems to late and then as cubase has started it tells me the sample rate has change and when it offers to match it, it then says the asio mm driver is already in use. when i try to assign cubase another driver, it works but really badly,with distortion and coughs and splutters.
Can i download an asio multi media driver so each respective programme has its own?
or will the new driver overwrite the old one. also will this resolve the problem?
help!!!
