I canot seem to be able to change individul note panning and velocities for extrenal VST insruments, like Vangard and Synth1. I mean I can change them but it has no effect! Also in some synths (Octupus demo for egg), changing individual note velocity changes cutoff for that partacular note!!

What am I doing incorrectly? :(

Post

VST cannot do this. This is not a fault of FLStudio, this is a limitation of the VST plugin format and ALL hosts are restricted by this.

Likewise, note slides can't be done with VSTs.

You're not doing anything incorrectly, the plugins simply can't communicate what you want them to do.

:( why is such essential stuff not implemanted in VST standard??

Because such essential stuff (per-note bends/cc's) is not in the MIDI standard.

Not saying the way it should be, just the way it is.

One workaround is to use channel panning and volume in the piano roll and draw in your values.

so it will always remain like this?? that sucks!!

ebenzer: thanks I knew that wrokaround....... but it sucsk when you have lot many notes and also when you have two or mroe notes starting at hte same time. :(

Note velocity is well supported by vst standard. Eg. for Synth1 VSTi just make sure "vel" control in amplifier section isn't set to zero (or low.)

Aye, it was the per-note panning part I was referring to.

...this is where midi plugins start to shine...

ggoyal2, I feel your pain!

I thought I had read somewhere that a new version fo the VST standard would support more things like per not panning, but maybe I dreamt it all :?:

well....... note Veloctiy is not well done in MOST synts that I know :(

for exdample: Vanguard! Does it work for evryone else?

Well, as hosts still use midi to communicate with vst plugins, it's not possible.
This is one limitation of midi (out of many) that has arisen as hardware has developed to the point where we can actually afford to have per-note panning, etc.

One day, I'm sure, a new standard which supports these isseus will come to the fore (OSC springs to mind). Just don't hold yr breath.

FWIW, IL have taken the cool, if sometimes frustrating (because it's not supported by 3rd party plugins, only native generators), path of pushing the host->plugin interface envelope with their own midi-like implementation - particuarly per-note slides.

Gol is on the record as stating that MIDI is obsolete, in terms of its outdated capabilites. While I wouldn't go so far, I certainly see his point.
