Just thinking I need a "wilder" delay effect for my project, I thought of ohmforce. I surfed to their site- it took three attempts to get the home page to load just so I could log in. It took over two minutes for the "my software" page to load. I clicked the "effects" page- no luck, nothing transfering from ohmforce, just dead. I give up.
I would have emailed ohmforce personally, but couldn't get the "contact us" page to load at all.
There are at least a dozen useless animations on every page of that site- boxes that swing a couple of pixels right and left, flashing logos... If anyone from ohmforce lurks around KvR, note that some of us are still using dial-up (only 42% of all Americans are using a high-speed connection at home).
An intro page with a choice- "dumb animations" vs. "get the information you need" -would be nice.

Web sites sometimes suffer from high server load. At some points in the day or during peak hours (like perhaps a new plugin release or announcement?), transfer rates are much hindered. The site is not particularly large compared to other flash sites, its actually quite light. Server troubles? Too much traffic? The site is fine for me.

Just because it is a flash interface doesnt mean the flash is many kilobytes, many animated sites, espesially designed in flash are smaller in size then non animated ones...

but size doesn't matter. if the image doesn't load on a static page the link is still active. with flash, if the swv doesn't load, nothing works. my personal opinion is that flash is a horrible, horrible means of navigation for a site, for this very reason.

Thanks for that bit of information, I didn't know that. This stuff is starting (hopefully) to make some sense to me.
