For my part I use a0 equaliser and classic compressor on each track and on the entire mix, then a little bit of steinberg mastering compressor and loudness maximiser, and you?

I'm a master at not mixing. Does that count?

i try until i get the sound i like!
i hated this kind of answers too, but sometimes (if not most of the times, somone could eve calculate the probability of this
) it may take longer to try out others suggestions, than just start with the frist effect you have on your fingers and think might fit and go on until the last one wich even might have wrong wrong in this spot.
i'm a hip hop freak, so classic mastering limiter is enough most of the time.
Distortion? who cares as long as its sound phat!
but on the other hand, what do i now, i have good ears but poor loudspeakers

I guess you are lucky to have someone do it for you.Sascha Franck wrote:I'm a master at not mixing. Does that count?
Though I actually enjoy it. Unless it's driving me nuts.
I spend more time mixing than composing/recording.

No, I don't. At least not for my usual musings.P.T. wrote:I guess you are lucky to have someone do it for you.Sascha Franck wrote:I'm a master at not mixing. Does that count?
But then, I don't care much about. I'm not a mixer or engineer. I'm a somewhat reasonable arranger (in case there's some good ideas to work with), a (hopefully reasonable) guitar player and I seem to know some things to add "creative spice" to some things. And that's all I want. I don't feel the need to be a good mixer or engineer (others than tracking my guitars properly, something I'm still improving on).
But then, you're somewhat right. In case I'd ever had something going that'd be worth a proper mix, I'd have some options to have it worked out from someone else. And I wouldn't even try to do it myself. I just happen hate "plain" mixing and mastering.
