I asked them about a demo a while back for something but there wasn't one; however, they have a money back policy if you don't like the product you purchase and from what I hear they stand by it.

Arrrrite... interesting... I'd rather a demo. that's not very smart of Audio Damage. it's like saying I have to pay for a fully featured demo "and we'll give you your money back if you don't want to keep it"

and how exactly do they make sure I don't have it on my computer after I give it back?

Come on guys... Nobody ever wanted their money back. AudioDamage creates great and unique stuff. Everyone who buys one of their plugins will want more, and will probably by new releases blindly, because of their known quality (Ease of use, unique coloration and soo much fun to play with).

indeed, its just confidence in their product

chances are if your gonna be paying out to demo it your a serious customer who knows what hes after rather than just someone who downloads everything available if you get me.
so chances are you wouldnt be deliberating long, youd be sending them a yep im keepin it email pretty quickly.

When I try out a demo I try it out for the *future*. I'll download a demo and if I like it I am sure to put it on my "future buy list". I won't be buying discord any time soon even if I do like it after I demo it. Does that make me a non-serious customer? No, because eventually I may buy it. I've had the shortcircuit demo for quite some time now. Next week, guess what I'm going to do? Buy it. Because I liked the demo ****2 MONTHS BACK!****

This isn't my petition thread to make Damage Audio create demo VSTs. I'm just telling you what's up, now you know. This thread is pointless.

Yes of course. Why would this thread be *the* exception at kvr?

Just kidding. You're right of course that you want a demo version. But my experience - and of the other AD-afficionados - is that you'll get addicted soon.

On the other hand, I more-or-less stopped downloading demos, I listen to demo-mp3's, look at reviews/comments at kvr, combined with past experience with the vendor, and then buy or don't buy, especially with VST's that cost about as much as a few CD's or bottles of whiskey

Most of the plugins are intentionally crap sounding....

They emulate the shit in a second hand shop like it's some kind of wonderful lo-fi bollocks....

Bad algortyhms - lol.......

The plugins probably cost more than the hardware units...

I think they think if they don't have demos then the stuff won't be cracked...

This hasn't proven effective though...

welp, I'll tell you one thing. Nothing pisses me off more than not having audio demos when you're selling a VST. I almost never download a VST demo unless there's mp3s to listen to first. And if there's no mp3 demo, I don't even consider looking into it. Pisses me off too much to give the developer any of my time (or money for that matter).

like the recent WarDrumz synth. pisses me off. The guy is selling freaking sample libraries without audio demos! How... how... STUPID!!!!!

Yeah, probably not.

But what has proven effective is that they've managed to sell a good amount of plugins without demos. So it makes you wonder if demos really are that necessary from a seller's point of view. Especially given that demo to sale ratios are often really high, like 100 downloads to every sale. Given that most plugin makers are small businesses, saving on the bandwidth might actually be smart for them.

Eh. They have a good reputation, they get good reviews, their GUIs are nice... but for me, no demo = no deal. There are a few other people in the VST community that people worship as their lord and master who I don't think are that great, and I'm tired of getting burned buying things on the basis of reviews.

I want to know why I should plunk down $40 for a phaser and consider it a good deal, when I have 9 free phasers in my plugins folder already and there are another dozen I could download if I wanted them? A demo would answer that definitively.

I want to know what Discord can do for me, subjectively. I have pitch shifters and delays and specialized plugins which do the same sorts of effects demo'd in the 3 MP3s. I have a hardware unit that does this sort of stuff (at least from what's in the MP3s and text description) and I don't consider it useful enough to bother to plug it in... so why is it worth $50 to do it in software? Again, a demo would answer that question.

The bandwidth argument doesn't really wash unless the executables are huge -- unless the theory is that people won't bother to listen to MP3s.

Is there no demo for Audio Damage?
