I would like a sharp piano sound that could vamp chords and cut through the mix.

I have lots of Kontakt and Halion piano samples and similar.

Is there anything I could do to them to get that House Piano?

Or is there a recommended new sample set I ought to get?

Or maybe a synth would do it better?

I'd welcome pointers for getting House Piano

thanx = kev :)

What about the M1 Piano - part of the Korg Legacy digital collection...

Kriminal ripped it from the plugin - check for it on his site..

THE house piano came from the Krog M1 if i'm not mistaken. So try the Korg Legacy thingie or try and find samples of the thing.I know Krim had some a while back.

Clavinova. Or, if you want a real piano try the Floristan piano. Sorry, I don't have links.

I'd agree that the 2 most used 'house pianos' are from the Korg M1 and early Roland romplers (JD series?), but you could try modifying and existing piano sound. Try a Yamaha C7 sound that should be pretty bright anyway, then with EQ emphasise the 'jangly', almost metallic portion of the sound. Next radically decrease the sustain of the sample and turn off any release samples. And for completeness add a quick single shot delay (or slapback echo), then you're ready to pound away. :)
