i have checked midi port which is ok & typing midi info manually in the edit page works so i am stuck now.
i can't find any info on the help files
can anybody help?

i've just gone back to using cubase after a while trying out live 5, but cubase no longer sends midi info to the plug in instruments. the 'midi in' red line on the transport bar is showing when the keyboard is pressed & the correct vsti is selected in channel info. but the 'midi out' red line does not appear & no sound.
i have checked midi port which is ok & typing midi info manually in the edit page works so i am stuck now.

are you making sure you have the red monitor button turned on for the midi channel and that that under the midi assignments that your keyboard is set for midi in and that the VST is set as the output?
what version of Cubase are you using, and what is your MIDI interface?

I'M USING CUBASE SX3 WITH MIDISPORT 2X2
I HAVE JUST TRIED AGAIN & I CAN PLAY VSTI'S WHEN THE EDIT WINDOW IS OPEN BUT I DONT HEAR ANYTHING WHEN IT IS CLOSED & THE CORRECT CHANNL SELECTED
I WILL TRY WHAT YOU SUGGESTED
