O.k. O.K. I used the classic series one a lot but now tend to use GComp http://www.gvst.co.uk/gcomp.htm because it sounds a bit cleaner, is more flexible (RMS and Peak-envelop-mode) and I can SEE what am I doing (yeah,yeah...trust your ears

, but it's just good to SEE how much I cut the wave)

2-3 pages later you'll most likey have heard 25 recommendations based on personal preferences.

Imho the most valuable informations (about compressor characters, cpu usage) have been given on this topic hundrets of times and i doubt you'll get any closer to that by starting a new thread in this regard.

May i attract your attention towards the search function of this forum?

Another solution, download some and try yourself. Or ask more specifically, maybe you're able to put this question into a bit different perspective than the one it has been viewed hundrets of times already.

According to your question i'd say the only correct answer is 23.

all compressors have their own characteristics i own lots and to say ones best is nonsence....

strongly depends on the souce material, _your_ personal taste and task i would say ... but yes, there are some better ones in general ... it strongly depends on the algorithm and how the material is processed ...
