vsti presets switching on their own in REAPER?

has anyone else had trouble with their presets automatically changing (particularly when going to render or save) on them in REAPER?
it's the only flaw i'm experiencing aside from the occasional crash, so far...
however, it's the one flaw keeping me going back to acid pro until i can figure it out.
