Anyone here know how to create a host/daw/sequencer/recorder software program that'd be willing to make me one based upon my feature/spec request for some good money?

An extremly rough guess is that it takes a year to do a host. That is roughly 1000 hours. A programmer has like 20 to 50 $ an hour (again a guess).

Do you really have that kind of money ?

Not, THAT kind of money, no. But some people have made host programs that may be able to scale what they already have back to meet my needs.

Check out Energy XT and Podium? Both are modular hosts that allow you to sorta kinda roll your own. Energy XT will also run as a VST and VSTi in most hosts, (including inside EXT itself), so that allows you to tweak even more. You can also add in the Rewire thing to make it even more customized.

And, frankly, unless you have some unique needs, and a real unwillingness to flex, it's extremely likely that there's already a host out there that will pretty much make you happy and help you work productively. Most can be customized to some extent, with window selection and arrangement, skins, and plug-ins.

The other reality is likely to be what I usually found when I was doing database programming -- The customer would get about two-thirds of the way in and realize that they needed That New Thing that they hadn't thought about, and it would only take a little tweak to add it or change it, right? ....Except that you'd have to completely restructure your entire code base to do That New Thing......

I'm not trying to short-circuit your quest for the perfect host for you, and Goddess knows I've obsessed about it for years. But it's kinda like that Holy Grail thing -- maybe it's the journey that matters most.....

why do you need your own personal host?? there are a shitload of softwares to choose from: if you are even considering hiring a programmer for your own host, then you have enough money to buy any host available.

Just for scale: Tunafish took me 1.5 year to develop up to 1.0, and that's a fairly simple-specced host. (Ofcourse I have a fulltime job and do coding in the evenings/weekends, but still it's not some trivial task).

I know of someone who would willingly (for good money) make you your own personalised host. It could be a personalised Babyatude, or Babyabase or even a personalised Babyation, possibly a Babya5. And I bet he could do it in much less than 1.5 years (probably overnight, I suspect...

Oh if I was a million air.... Hey it would be a great idea though.

This really is a good idea and a good inspiration to try and become a millionaire, could you imagine how great it would be?.. I'd hire 5,000+ programmers to cater for my every needs for a host heh.

Here is a weird question...but what the heck...
