Anyone else frustrated with Antares...

Well, if their Autotune port to VST is anything to go by you just have a few more years to wait. 
Seriously though, I'm also frustrated with Antares. They have this infuriating way of coming up with great, innovative software and then just let it wither and die. Kantos was a brilliant app which you could feed with monophonic audio (like your own voice) and it would capture the pitch, volume and brightness and play it back with the on-board synth.
The only thing lacking which would have fulfilled its potential was midi out to allow the extracted data to be played back with any instrument. When I asked them about it they even said that this was planned for a future release. Of course absolutely nothing happened and now the plugin is discontinued.
My biggest beef with Antares, though is Infinity. It's been around for many years but it's still the best audio looping tool on the planet - nothing else comes even close. So why the heck is it still only available for Mac OS 9??!!?
I have this vision of Antares as consisting of a number of mad coders working in complete isolation from eachother, coming up with some great stuff but when one of them leaves the company the others have no idea of what he was doing and no clue as to what to do with the code. So they just leave it as it is and hope people will forget about it.
Let's see what happens when the AVOX guy leaves...

When I asked their support about this in January, Brian English from Antares answered "The AU Filter may be available in 2nd or 3rd Quarter of 2006".
Re: Frustration with Antares:
In advance of considering to buy Antares Filter, I asked about their policy in regard to authorizing on two machines (studio-dektop/live-laptop). Answer was I could get a second license for another $99.
Then he tried to advertise the fact that they would give a replacement authorisation in case of had a hard disk crash, as an extraordinary and remarkable service!

I've always been frustrated with Antares....not due to AU support though...My problem lies within their disgusting habit of using PACE iLok...Makes using their programs a 50/50 chance every time I update Windows or other software. Jackasses...use Synchrosoft if you're gonna use a dongle dammnit! One that I can keep all my licenses, for Antares, Steinberg, IK Multimedia, etc.. on ONE f**king dongle.
Whew...I feel better now.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not a big fan of Dongle Protection at all...and I do my best to stay away from it...but there are a few things I use, and have always used, that require it. In those cases, I'd much rather syncrosoft systems that are compatible with the dongle I already own, rather than PACE, which causes all kinds of problems on my PC setup. I've honestly never had any stability problems with the syncrosoft protection sheme. So it's not just as bad in practice, but in princible, yes it is.ttoz wrote:sorry Frank, syncrosoft is just as bad.
I have stopped purchasing new software that uses it though for the most part. I am planning a purchase or two that have syncrosoft implemented (Arturia P5 for example), but I'm waiting it out to see if someone like GMedia takes the challenge instead, I like their emu's better anyway.

) about a month ago, definitely one of my top 5 purchases ever. Peace
