Yo y'all:
I'm doing a feature for next month's Texas Music Forge that requires some Middle Eastern textures. Anyone have any loops or samples they would like to swap? I'm particularly interested in dumbek and other percussion loops but am also interested in oud or other traditional stringed instruments. Got any instrumental Arabic dance loops or tracks? Hit me up.
Thanks for reading this and best regards to all,
Tio Ed

Since when is India located in the Middle East??RTaylor wrote:http://www.swarsystems.com/index.php
There are a lot of online shops with sample clips of their Arab music.

That's funny, I was just doing a soundtrack for a film shot in Iraq(15 minute short). I knew better than to just fill it with sitars and used some proper sounds, but I couldn't resist a little sitar & tabla by the end for extra touch.BertKoor wrote:Since when is India located in the Middle East??RTaylor wrote:http://www.swarsystems.com/index.php

DUM ka ta ka DUM ka ta taka
I'm gonna slap the guy with a f**king falafel.

Great suggestions, even the one involving a falafel (much more effective than trying to slap someone with a handful of hummus).
Since I had so much fun with Roman poet Ovid's soft-core porn in this month's issue, we're following it up next month with the Song of Solomon. Heavy breathing and playing the duduk go together naturally anyway....
Best regards from another hot and sandy place,

You can also impale someone in the eye with Shish Tawoo.TexasMusicForge wrote:Great suggestions, even the one involving a falafel (much more effective than trying to slap someone with a handful of hummus).

You know, I honestly hadn't really thought it through, but looking back I was probably thinking about the falafel being in pita. Maybe with some tehina, amba, pickles, salad, I don't know. Maybe some harif, you know, but the red kind not green. Still might be hard to slap someone with, but definitely tasty.BertKoor wrote:Talking out of yer arse... Throw a falafel, ok! Ummmmm....I think you've put too much thought into this, my friend, although I might invite you to the next food fight I'm in provided you're on my side...Mr. Tunes wrote: You can also impale someone in the eye with Shish Tawoo.
Please don't squeeze the shawarma,
