I need a vocoder but I can't afford to spend a lot on it. Does anyone know a good one that isn't too expensive or that is free or donationware?

Thanks so much!

thanks. I read the the read me thing and it said the free version is meant to be a trial version? So does that mean I have to buy it to be able to use it in a song?

i don't believe you have to buy it to use in a song, if i recall it is fully functional, it just does'nt have all the features as full version thats for sale. Demo to verify tho.

If you can afford a copy of Computer Music, there's a nice little Fruity Loops Vocoder on there. Also, I haven't tried it, but there's the BoxSounds' vocoder (not sure what the actual name of the VST is...it's in the KVR database).

Shit, I gotta go to sleep man...been saying I'm going to do it in the last 12 posts. :P

Peace...and good night. :)

My vote goes to the CM Vocoder. I was actually intending to purchase the Orange Vocoder when I got to try the CM Vocoder, which I was very impressed with.

I would go for CM Vocoder or Syncoder (Wich is free and can be found here)

One good thing about the CM Vocoder is that it's possible to change the number of bands. Sometimes a diffuse vocoding effect might be desirable which is a lot easier to accomplish (and more CPU-effective) with a lower number of bands. I don't know which other vocoders offers this, Orange Vocoder certainly don't.

where can i get the CM Vocoder? :?

You have to buy 'Computer Music' Mag, but there is also an effect-bundle from 'Image Line', where it is included, in case you need more stuff.

+1 for the CM vocoder. That's what I use ... if I have to use one anyway.
