Hi,

I have a question about the instruments articulations in Studiophonik.

For the guitars and bass, will we have the choice beetween differents pickups for each model, articulations as slides, mutes, gliss up, pop notes... ?

Post

Each guitar offers different articulation options but generally speaking, yes!

Thanks, so I'll buy this product !

Sounds good!
As far as I know the already very well designed and designable Guitarsounds of ST, or Sonic capsuls, I am not so much impressed by the amount of GB, the competitors offer, since good ears like those of the IK/SR-Producers do the same job with much less of used resources.

But: here is still another perhaps a bit more fierce question (sorry for that!)
There are some big guitarsample librarys out there with partly some nice samples nearly lost in tons of sampled material.

Whats still a bit tedious work for the most Sample-users, is to collect all necessary samples together that one needs to create f.i. a ravishing breathtaking Guitarpart or Bassline.

More and more companys tend to organize the sounds and samples to make as much different noises, fx, alternate articulations as possible available while playing - via Keyswitches, mod-Wheel, Velocity or other Midi-controlerchannels.

I've heard you already introduced more variability to the live sampleselection in MP.

For SP would this make sense aswell in the possibility to change instantly to alternative Samples like the Instrumentalist change its techniques while playing as it would make sense to make the applied fx available while playing, like the guitarist, or Bassplayer does it with his footpedals.

So I hope the time comes near, when the next Jimi Hendrix, must no longer burn his Guitar, but just manipulate some midicontrolers to interpret the star spangled banner in his very IK/SR-way.

Oh, I forgot about the bass.

I think we'll have the choice between differents playing technics, like : fingered, slap, mutes, picked, and fretless ?

Those articulations are already part of the IK-Workstations like ST 2 as lots of seperate Patches. It would be realy cool, if SP would make a step forward in combining a group of diffrent articulations of a given instrument in something like a super-patch to allow articulation change inside a single patch.
is this still to futuristic, or is there any chance for this in the upcoming SP?

Yes, this variety is all there.

Performance combis.

Yeah, that sounds pretty good!!!!
waiting for SP becomes more and more reasonable.
Could you specify anything about those "performance combis"?

Would it be for instance possible to run not only scratches, harmonics and fretnoises but also a whole set with different articulations of the same Guitar or bass in one "performance Combi" with the same "rig" (eq,amp + effects-setup) :?:

You can mix and match the separate scratches, noises and harmonics from one guitar to use with another in a performance combi. They all can go through one set of effects which makes them more like "super instruments" using multiple parts. I'll say more when it is closer to being finished.

Great!! hold on creating "super instruments" like this, thats just all we expect! :)

Here are just two more questions:

1. Will there be still the same 5 effect "slots" in SP as one can see on the first UI-Screenshots, or would'nt it make sense to ad at least some more since 5 does'nt realy seem to be very much compared f.i. to the 20 simultaneous effectslots which AT2 offer :?:

2. What's about a little teaser-mp3 prerelease to stir up the market a bit?

Post

Well, you'll be able to have up to around 80 to 90 effects in one instance but on one signal probably 10 to 15. More info will be provided when it is ready to come out of the oven. Specs can change.

When it is closer we will do some teaser mp3s. It's bad enough we go people excited too early! We'll make a big noise around the time we put it up for pre-order. I really don't know when that will be though. It's hard to tell with this product because we are after something rather unique. It takes a lot of work!

This is what makes its intresting.
But all you write about still makes it more reasonable to keep waiting for. :)

I for one would rather buy a simpler version of SP sooner and upgrade later to the gold plated version when it's available.

Ironically that may STILL be the case!
