I like biomorphic sounding filters that make you think that it has some sort of natural origin...think howling wolves or whales humping (whatever that sounds like)

Ronin is good. So is Camelspace. In college I had an Arp 2600. That thing was wild.

What else is good?

Filterscape (has envelope followers that do this)

Lost Technology does a good job (check out some of the presets I made for it, though it'll depend on the source material)

Voice Machine can get some sick bubbly sounds.

What are you looking to use the effects on?
Complete mixes, drums, synth leads, etc?

Cuz this is one area that's a speciality of mine

Thanks, I'll check out your suggestions.

I like blending natuarla acoustic instruments with electronica. Right now I am just creating a library of loops which I am then going to intertwine with some acoustic tracks. Sort of a hybrid of acoustic music with electronica.

Well, it's been a while since I used the gloopiest sounds I could find - I've been saving up presets and such for 3 years for some all-slurpy future.

So now I'm going to come back to this thread when ever I hit on a new sound so we can discuss and demonstrate how to get these sounds.

You just put it into the perfect question form so now I think I'll try to elucidate my tricks since I've rarely used them in songs.

(edit - no, don't know ronin - I know it's a complicated delay/multifx unit though)

Try SCAMP. It's does a lot of very wet and squishy sounds. (There's even a preset called Wet Suction!)

I've been thinking about it while lying in the heat and hallucinating. A lot of it comes down to intricate sound design so I guess I'll do what I can to post some secret recipes and hopefully other peoples will share, too.

Sometimes nothing works like Smartelectronix/Bram's Crazy Ivan ( http://bram.smartelectronix.com/plugins.php?id=7 ). I used it on the tracks "Mission 1-4" on the "Dorothy Brought The Watchtower" CD, a free 22.1 stereo mp3 download of which is available on our Myspace page.
