This was a very promissing project, using a NVIDIA chipset on a graphics card, for the use of DSP processing. Something like powercore, uad etc but then again it's done on the card you probbebly already have. It was supose to load about 25 convolution plugins on a 6600 graphics card. Stunning and cheap.

Since a few weeks the website is not active anymore. Does anyone know what happened to this project??

i was really hoping on this one... Would have compleatly changed the plug in world. Anyone spoke to the head man to whats happening?

I hadn't even heard of it, but now i'm really, really anxious to get my hands on this. Has there been previous discussion about this on kvr? Any alphas released?
I gather it turns audio into textures and back into audio once processed, but isn't there any lag or loss because of this?

Erm, there are other threads at KVR about this. [use search before posting on something like this] Yes it's well known. No we haven't seen anything going. Yes they're probably still working on the technology. I imagine they've found a better use for it in other areas such as medical science or aerospace that pay serious money. So convolution and other stuff would probably be a low priority. From what I understand nothing released to the public. And if the site is gone I'd somewhat doubt it's coming back. Perhaps the technology got bought.

And ja. The convolution would have some latency. That being said it could be liveable. And besides even with 20mseconds + latency if you could have more reverbs when tracking than you would have with today's processors, who cares?

a kvr member did the GUI for a plugin of bionicfx.. pehaps he knows a bit more..

i might be wrong but i though i saw the dev here in a thread a long time back...come out come out wherever you are! :D

Would be great if we can get to know more. For the ladtency there are solutions. Nuendo for instance already has the solution with delay compensation inside.

BTW, the UAD card runs on the same principle. They're also using a kind of NVDIA chip on their board.

Post

From what i've heard the UAD is exactly that - a gloryfied graphics card (at that, not a powerful one) with specialist software. With the right coding i'm this technology is a massive threat to UAD, liquidmix, duende, etc. I reckon bionic fx got bought out from fear by mr shadows from these companies ;). Graphics cards are so cheap and powerful these days which would mean massive plug counts...

I thought mr bionic was quite close to a solution. Shame all this business...

dam it's so hot here.
