I heard (here) that there was some new host that allowed you to use other hosts (such as SX FL EXT etc) like instruments?? Anyone know of the name?? Sorry, I was probably stoned when this was released..

Thought it was reaper but after checking the site I see that thats not it..

Uhhm, dont know about that one. But if you want a really good host to go inside of another host, your best bet is EXT.

I feel you on eXT been using it for a couple of years now.. It was on the main page here like mabye a month ago or so.. I think theres a way to view archived news lemmi check... Wow phrazor looks interesting..

FL can load as a vsti.

Some hosts can be loaded as a VST (Fruity, eXT I think) and that should work in any host that supports VST.

But there is no host that can load any other host as a VST if the one that you're loading isn't designed for that.

You can load EXT and FL as VSTi's in REAPER for sure.

Exactly right. You can't "wrap" any old host as a VST. They have to be designed to be used as one (eg's already given: FL, eXT)

when the rearoute stuff in reaper will be perfected, it will send midi as well as audio (right now it only does audio) through ASIO and will sync any host with it --

but its not quite there yet.

I think it's a concept problem, there's been lots of talk about Reaper's pseudo ReWire called ReRoute that lets Reaper route audio to and from anything (any host, any standalone anything) that can use an ASIO audio driver, either before or after effects inside Reaper. I'm sure that morphed around the dinnertable into the any host as slave-vst premise.
