Hay dear forum. :)

I have a plan on mind, but I don't have enough information for making decisions about the execution of this adventurous project.
I would like to travel to India, Nepal and Tibet for a few months in purpose to record some vocal music from different tribes and distant villages. At first, I'm interesting on solo-vocal recording of traditional songs, prayers, lullabies, kid's songs, and so. The main goal is to be able to sell the rights of the recordings for covering my expense.

Presume i have (no, I don't have it yet, but this is for anther topic):

* Bus without chairs, when the back side of it is an hermetically- isolated room, all dry by acoustical material, and with a small window to the control room, which is the frontier side of the bus.
* Laptop, and a chain of microphone+pre-amp+A/D converter valuated by 6,500 US$ (not counting the laptop).
* Cables, stands, headphones and ac.
* Electric recharged buttery for the equipment.
* Local translator.
* Bus driver.
* 4 months time.

I have some questions for desiccation:
-First and most important: Is there an active market for this kind of recordings? Were should I look for buyers? Record companies? Sampling companies? Some kind of labels? Or maybe I should look for an expert who can sell it for commotions..?

-Should I make a contact with potential buyers before I make the records or afterwards?

-What would be an estimated price of one our of selected session? (I know that's an abstract question, but I have to base on something before I spend tens of thousands of dollars of this project…)

-What should I notice while sapling non-western person? What should I look for? Any tip would be helpful.

-Do you have any information or links for similar projects?

Anyway, I would love to have you opinion, and if someone thinks about collaboration, I can be reached by PM or by
CG_Studio@walla.com

Thanks, Cosmo

That's a pretty hefty undertaking for a freelancer.

Simply rent the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou?" and emulate the blind studio owner. Also consider how much more desirable it would be for you to record the Lebenese instead of the Tibetans.
