There is no such thing and there can't be, because if an application doesn't have the communication infrastructure to "speak the VSTi language" then you can't add or fake it later on.

if the device can recieve external midi and can use ASIO drivers, perhaps one day, REAPER will be able to use it through REAROUTE, but as for now, you would have to use rearoute as the driver in that app, and wire up a virtual midi cable of some sort between the apps. It can be done, however, but it would never be as truly integrated as a real vsti.

Nicfit's FileLoader is a vst util that can open a file from inside eXT, wich is a different thing from running it as a vst: http://asseca.com/nicfit/fileloader.html.

But to be fair, the VST protocol goes way beyond just sending midi notes to a VST plugin. There's also stuff which goes the other way, such as preset settings etc. I don't see how Rearoute or Reaper could ever fix that - and a host which forgets any plugin's settings as soon as you shut it down isn't going to make many friends.

It would be like using Gigastudio rewired or something, you save the patch seperately.

It simply translates the RTAS codes into their respective VST codes (or the other way around). Apparently there are a lot of similar features in the RTAS protocol. It doesn't magically add the functionality.

But I would be happy to be corrected by someone who has actually used the RTAS wrapper, because I haven't.

Reaper does allow one to record a VSTi's output in Audition 2.0, which itself has no VSTi support, but when it comes down to it you might as well just record it in Reaper and have done with it.
