Cubase SX2 direct monitoring - phase 22 problem

So, i just got my first ASIO soundcard and have been trying to use jamstix with SX2, the problem is that the M8audio plugin no longer works inserted in an audio track, i have to put it on the input channel.

Main prob though is when i enable direct monitoring (in cubase) i can hear the live guitar input but not any VST's, it cuts out the jamstix signal.

Turn off direct monitoring i can hear VST's again but no live guitar input.

I'm hoping this is some limitation of the souncard (a Terratac Phase 22), and not with ASIO or cubase itself.

Everything worked fine with my old soundblaster, how ironic is that..

Oh and the sound blaster is still installed and the computer no longer shuts down correctly, dunno if thats relevant, maybe i should remove it.
