Hello,
I know there are some commercial programs around that can rip a sound from a (hardware) synth automatically: across the keyboard, with different velocity and map the samples too.
Emulator X2 can do it, I have version 1 and consider upgrading, but at this moment I don't have the money and I have lend a hardware synth which I want to rip. I can do it manually, but this can take ages.
Are there any freeware programs around who can do the trick.
Regardz,
Jos

synthcatcher from arcdev comes to mind. Should do what you want.

ninedayswonder99, go to CDXTRACT.COM and get the "samplit demo"; that must be able to do the job.
Max... .. .

Hi Max and Dozius,
Thanx for the tips. I will search and try them.

If you record a midi file containing the notes and velocities you want to capture you can just record that into the sequencer. And then you split the sounds using waveknife.

Yeah, I've tried Samplit, it's easy to use and does exactly what I want. Even the demo version. I can live with the limitation: only 2 octaves. Just repeat the action for other octaves, an easy workaround.Max el Belga wrote:ninedayswonder99, go to CDXTRACT.COM and get the "samplit demo"; that must be able to do the job.![]()
Thanx alot!

Wondering if anyone's gone through the effort to sample a hardware synth in an effort to get rid of that synth, and go all software...
gotta be a lot of work, though, or is there something that will take the individual samples and automap it to, say, a kontakt file?

I think Extreme Sample Converter is by far the best for this type of job... And its very actively developed so it will get even better.
I've tried Samplit and Samplerobot and both are cumbersome and overpriced in comparison.

To my knowledge there are three such products:OzoneJunkie wrote:Wondering if anyone's gone through the effort to sample a hardware synth in an effort to get rid of that synth, and go all software...

SampleRobot( saw the link above in this thread), Samplit(from CDExtract site) and www.extranslator.com also mentioned. Extreme converter is bar far the most bang for buck with everything it can convert to/from and the hardware converter as well(and is the VST converter that does the same thing from VST instruments even?).

And if you have the Emu X2 sampler, it has a utility built in to do this as well. Not that it matters in this case, but I want you guys to like me for my brain, not my oatmeal.
Why cry about your own desires, when I could have them and leave you standing in the sadness of your own....
