Sorry about the double post...
Hello Everyone!...I've got a few questions about using the Z3ta+ (1.4) as an insert fx processor. I'm working on Sonar 3.11 with the latest update on the VST Adapter (4.51 I think?). Regarding instructions of its use as an effect the Z3ta+'s manual is a bit conservative, to say the least. I've fiddled w/ it and I wanted to share some of my experiences to find out if this is how it should be used or if I'm doing something incorrect or if some kind of update is in order.
The thing that makes me curious about something being wrong it's the fact that when I run the VST wrapper I get this message:
(a message I happen to also get with 'Energy XT' by the way, any comments on this will also be appreciated)
'The following caused an error during load'
'Zeta_fx'
The Failure point was reported as:
'Main Call'
What's this about?
the window message then gives you the choices of 'disable plugin' or 'enable plugin risky' to click in order to continue.
The Z3ta+ comes with 2 extra dll. Files: 'Z3ta+_fx.dll' and 'Z3ta+_fx2.dll'. What's the difference between these two?. The way I'm loading these into a project in sonar is just as I would any other vst plugin. Inserting into an audio track (with an audio file) and then assigning a midi track for the z3ta+.( for automating via midi).
Loading the 'Z3ta+_fx.dll' file crashed sonar when as I tried to load it into a audio track for the 1st time, then when I tried it again, it loaded with out a GUI, the only visible interface was that ' generic vst adapter 'shell' frame thingy, which would not allow me to make any parameter changes whatsoever since the only visible parameters in this window was the dropdown menu list of presets and the menu for saving/loading fxb's and fxp's, so setting thee 'audio input thru' was not possible.
Then the plot thickened when I tried loading the 'Z3ta+_fx2.dll' which the vst adapter had scanned with out a problem …It loaded fine with z3ta's GUI and all. I selected the 'audio input thru' setting. I had the region with audio looping so I could hear any changes but still no sound. Then It occured to me to play some midi notes and I begin to hear the audio comming thru the z3ta. I realized that I had to retrigger a midi note every bar or so for the audio to continue comming thru. Holding down a note would not allow audio to continue comming thru indefinitely. I checked the amp and all the other envelope settings and increased them all to max (except for the attack) to make sure this was not what was affecting the duration of the sound being processed/comming thru but still there's a gradual fading of the audio every bar or so, unless you repeatedly trigger a midi note.
Is this the correct way of operating the Z3ta+ as an insert? Does anyone have any insights, tips or tricks on this regard?...Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that allthough the 'Z3ta+_fx.dll' loaded with out a GUI it allowed audio thru with out the need of midi note triggering, the audio track would simply play blended with the current patch/preset that's loaded at the time giving the audio an almost vocoded effect although not quite. Anyway, If any one answer any of my questions or can give me any guidance on what I maybe doing wrong,I'd really appreciate it...Thanx & Peace!
