Since Muzys the software is discontinued and Muzys the company is belly up does anybody know what the current status of the software is? I've been using the Computer Music version but there are some limitations (5 synths for example) and I was wondering if there is anyway to still get the full version, is it abandonware, or has it been loosed on the public in any other fashion?
p.s. For those who will say 'use CMusic' it still seems a little early in development for me and not as intuitive.

I believe all rights to Muzys are now owned by some unnamed company who presumably paid the original developer for them. They've chosen not to release any further licences. You'll need to find someone willing to part with their copy.
LUNA is getting there pretty fast. The current pre-release is very nice. (Several features short of replacing Muzys 3, though.)

It looks like sitting pat on Cmusic is the best plan. Guess I'll have to keep shelling out my $15.

I'd describe it as Homicide-ware rather than Abandon-ware. Some asshole company killed off one of the most promising apps going and made it impossible for any further development on it - selfish c**ts - they should have let the original dev have it back if they weren't prepared to actually do anything with it. Oh and Musynth in particular rocks and should have been a VSTi.

The developer shares the shame. A pig's ear didn't sign a paper relinquishing his claim to copyright, you know. As far as we know he does not regret the decision. Of course, it's a shame and a pity that Muzys died, i regret that too.
But let's not face the past, let's kiss the future, and let's make LUNA as good as Muzys. Mmm, what about Better.

It was the MuZynth in Muzys.Oh and Musynth in particular rocks and should have been a VSTi.

Not that "unsuccessful" is telling something about it's quality, which it had.

I don't get the concept of 'abandonware'; you expect it to be OK to get it by any 'special' mean if it is so? Muzys is not freeware until Jo states so, and I don't think he will ever do.
Haven't tried CMusic/Luna yet, but Muzys is great. If it had real audio capabilities I would still be using it.

I'm one of the unlucky ones that bought Muzys3 in good faith a few weeks after the OSX version was announced, which was just a few weeks before the developer dropped it ('abandoned' it) completely.
Some not so few dollars thrown in the dustbin...

The whole death of Muzys3 was a really massive disappointment to me. I was expecting a newer, flashier product from the company that bought it only to see that they'd decided to abandon the idea while keeping all the rights.
It's probably been an horrific lesson for Jo - but he's started again with Luna, probably considerably wiser.
Luna's nothing but a curiosity to me at the moment, but I remember MBooM being similar and that developed into Muzys3 which I loved.
Still - there's alot of good stuff around lately for producing music including new hosts like REAPER and Sequitur, along with the other more mature hosts. It's a wonderful market for us.
