I'd rather buy loops and 1-shots from MicroTonic than buy it

yep... can anyone direct me to sample libraries with microtonic-type stuff? or sample libraries made using the actual microtonic? :hihi:

Post

I'm not sure if it would be legal to make samples of it...wouldn't that fall into the same realm as sampling hardware synths? I don't actually know, i'm just under that impression.

why not use odo stuff: rhythms and dr-fusion.
and/or get cerebrum

Konkrete from sonic couture has some fantastic electronic drums in it. Have a listen to the demos on their website.

As far as sampling one shots, I can't see anything wrong with sampling microtonic

Why pay for Microtonic samples, if you can get a real drum synth for free!

Konkrete sounds AWESOME!! Definitely should get that. BUT please keep suggestions coming, Konkrete doesn't have everything I need.

edit: wait a minute, I think it actually does have everything I need. :P I WANT MORE! Keep suggestions coming. Please keep it samples only. I want to put Shortcircuit through its paces.

Magnus Lindstrom specifically says that uTonic contains no samples - so it should be okay to sample it. Sampling presets made by other designer might present a problem, but sampling your own shouldn't.

Architeuthis: uTonic itself comes with tons of loops and is very easy to use. Why not just use it as a loop player, if you're not into programming. Or are you looking for something which can't be found there?
EDIT: you actually answered my question while I typed the post: samples are to be used in Shortcircuit.

Yes, there are very cool things you can do in shortcircuit with samples that you could never do with a synth. Like I could take a sample, split it up into multiple samples/keys, then go crazy with parameters per key such as LFOs, velocity parameters, etc. Especially layering samples is really easy with a sampler, and editing it's shape with volume envelopes.

Obviously, you can grab a couple of free sample sets of various rhythmic blips and bloops and play them through a sample playback engine. Certainly, microTonic sounds great (I don't think anyone would argue that Sonic Charge doesn't know what their doing when it comes to a great sounding synth engine). So you could multi-sample the pads and come close I'd imagine. But what makes microTonic so splendid is the entire design, the step sequencer, the velocity modulation, the entire layout of the plugin. Really, one of the smartest pieces of code I use.

LSR Free is a great tool for grabbing loops from various sources.
