Note: Novice Alert
I've just downloaded the Rainbow 2.5 Demo and I really like the sound banks that come with it.
But controlling with my MIDI keyboard through my soundcards joystick port gives terrible latency, about half a second delay.
Am I being optimistic to expect any better performance? Or have I failed to configure something...
I have an AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz Processor, 512MB RAM and Soundblaster Live! card. (Windows XP)

Host? Dunno what you mean. I was just trying to play Rainbow Synth 'live'
Anyway, I've now made some progress. I installed various 'stuff' from a magazine CR ROM and one of them was something called Total Recorder
Whatever that is, it mucked up my DirectX such that Directsound was being emulated. I de-installed it and things are much improved.
So if I was to get a sequencer like FruityLoops, can it use the Rainbow synth, like with several voices at once? (I'm new to all this stuff)
Hoping to eventually produce something really noisy, along the lines of early 'Throbbing Gristle', (how hard can that be)
Wish me luck

Donkeyrad,
Yeah you'll be able to open many instances or Rainbow (or any other vsti, for that matter) inside Fruityloops and play them all in sync.
Have fun with vsti's, you've found the right place.
