it's a mid side summing matrix, not so usable as it's not mono compatible.

There's couple of *really* good free ones. Don't ask me how to find them as they kind of just popped on my vstplugins directory from god only knows where. possibly KVR at some point.

ChunkWare Orban b18
ChunkWare Orban b18 Adv
ChunkWare Widener

and my favourite Spartacus.dll by Matthias Becker, which is another Orban model.

It should be noted that these are generally meant for final mix stereo enhancement.

There's absolutely ton of tricks in mixdown stage that need no advanced plugins. For example, I use voxengo sampledelay for all my haas panning needs.

  i like it! :)

EDIT: Sampledelay? You mean something like delaying the right channel for some milliseconds? That's also NOT monocompatible! :hihi: ;)

Yes, but it was a tip for the mixdown stage. By the way it's more powerful when you pan *and* delay simultaneously. When you apply the delay just right, it's practically mono compatible.

Don't take it the wrong way, mid-side is an extremely powerful tool, and unfortunately mostly neglected these days. It's just that it only becomes the power tool after you start applying processing separately to the mid and side bands. Summing matrix is just a starting point really.

And there's absolutely ton of tricks you can do there. Oh and it *is* perfectly mono compatible, as long as you don't ever touch the mid band. But please *do* process it all you can, as the mono compatibility is just a guideline really.

Fl has its own stereo enhancer and I find it is quite good. Other than that I have no idea unless you want to go the Ozone route which is an excelent mastering tool with an enhancer (but not mono so I guess it is out of the question) 8)

Does anyone know whether Chunkware ended up further developing their Widener and Orban plugins? Those are the only stereo wideners I use anymore - totally killer sounding... it's a shame they weren't more widely known...
