ProTools 7 crashes when opening Rhino2 as VST

Have been using Rhino 1 & 2 successfully with Tracktion, but am now using PT7 for everything. Used FXpansion VST to RTAS converter for all my plug-ins, and everything works except Rhino 2. Rhino 1.09 works fine but as soon as I try to open Rhino 2, ProTools crashes, with an 'Access violation' message. No other plug-ins cause PT to crash in this way. Having read the topic with Cubase crashing, might there be a common link?

All versions of ProTools require hardware to run - there is no 'software only' version, and therefore no workable demo. I am using their M-box, which is in effect a dedicated soundcard. See digidesign.com for more details. Pro Tools cannot use VST pluggins directly, but the FXpansion wrapper works fine making pluggins available as ProTools RTAS format. Some developers, such as Ohm Force provide pluggins already in RTAS format . . . hint, hint!Big Tick wrote:Duh... is there any way for me to get a PT7 demo ? Does such a thing exist ?

Thanks for your help on this, as I really like Rhino.

It may be easier to ask Angus from FXpansion to test Rhino in his adapter.

Yes, I've been in touch with digidesign in the past regarding RTAS versions. But their sdk is not public, and their policy is, basically, "no mac, no sdk".melodydad wrote:Some developers, such as Ohm Force provide pluggins already in RTAS format . . . hint, hint!

This is odd considering that a couple of years ago they were ready to drop Mac as their primary platform - and Pro Tools actually prompts the user to use wav files rather than aif! Maybe it is time to approach them again - although I appreciate that they are not noted for their support and cooperation, as far as I have heard . . .Big Tick wrote:Yes, I've been in touch with digidesign in the past regarding RTAS versions.
