I've purchased Steinberg Voice Machine long time ago, never could make it work properly ( terrible latency problems )

...but i'm wondering in the case it would have worked correctly at what degree would it compete against melodyne uno ?

Post

I have VoiceMachine and it works just as it should. Yes it has latency, but it's declared quite explicitly in the printed manual... You did read the manual, didn't you?

I would think that Melodyne Uno totally kick's VoiceMachine's ass in terms of sound quality. But VoiceMachine is a very nifty tool for creative melody-mangling and vocal harmony experiments in Cubase.

Ooops !!!

thanks for the info, mate ...gonna have a deeper look at the manual !

I have both Voice Machine and Melodyne Uno.
Melodyne Uno sounds much more natural than Voice Machine, you can use this to correct lead vocals and IMO it's better than AutoTune for that purpose.
Voice machine has its own sound character and it's easier to create multiple harmonies at once, but I don't use it now - it's a bit too dated.

lemons?

... I don't know VoiceMachine (it's also discontinued, innit?), but I have bought Melodyne Cre8 recently and the more I'm using it, I come to the conclusion, that it's simply mindblowing. If your budget allows it, go for Melodyne - I'm sure, they will develop even nicer features in the next years...

I'm sure Melodyne is fantastic, but can you play a new melody to an already existing vocal or instrument track with it, from a MIDI keyboard, in realtime, directly inside Cubase? VoiceMachine can do that. The latency isn't a problem because for some reason, the pitch changes from MIDI are applied in realtime without any latency.
