Can UAD-1 licenses be shared between cards on same computer?

I wasn't sure what forum to post this to so excuse me if this is the wrong one. Here is my question:

I'm a new owner of UAD-1 Studio Pak card. If I buy another UAD-1 card, say the Project Pak card that has the basic plug-ins. Can I use the licenses from my Studio Pak with the Project Pak card, as long as they are on the same PC? For instance, I have the Fairchild 670 with my Studio Pak card, so will I be able to use that Fairchild 670 on my Studio Pak card and my Project Pak card at the same time? Or does each card require separate licensing? I'd appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on this for me.

The only thing the second card adds is more DSP power. It's actually rather seamless to a user, and you never have to think about it really, the cards and drivers take care of everything. Nothing with the plugins and licenses change.

So, let me make sure I have this straight. What I want to do is exactly what you said, add more processing power, meaning running more plug-ins. So my license applies to as many cards as I have on my PC, regardless of what they initially ship with? For instance, let's say I can run a maximum of 15 Fairchild 670's on my Studio Pak card; all I have to do is purchase the lower cost Project Pak card, and I could then run 30 instances of the Fairchild, because the license applies to all of my cards, and all the additional card is doing is supplying more DSP power? Reason I ask, I'm looking to buy 2 more cards for processing power but wasn't sure if I had to have separate licensing for each card. Thanks in advance!

Exactly.

If you buy 2 more cards, UA will give a voucher for each card you buy, applicable towards new plugin licenses. It's a nice spiff.

you register the card at their website and you get an updated authorisation - I've got three

Very cool!!! Lord, where can I find info on the voucher you are talking about, for purchasing 2 more cards? Do you have more details or can you point me to a link where I can read up on it. Thanks Kingston and thanks Lord, my PC just got a whole lot more powerful!

You can find all info at www.uaudio.com
There you have all promotions etc.

You can have up to four cards in the same group sharing the same authorization.

The promotion for adding card ended Aug 31 though....... (It was a $100 voucher for each additional card.)

All plugins you have licenses for work on up to four UAD-1 cards.

So if you buy a Studio Pak and a Project Pak, you have all the Studio Pak plugins, and 2 cards to run them on. A cheap bundle simply works as a DSP extender to the plugs you own. Any plugs you own, will work across up to 4 DSP cards.

Well actually, the "UAD 100" (multi-card) promo has been extended, without much fanfare, to December 31st. :)
