What's better: Synthology Ivory or a good stage Piano?

I'm about to spend 2000 on the Roland RD 700 SX stage Piano,
but I could also save a lot of money and just get myself a real good weighted midi keyboard + the Synthology Ivory virtual Piano.
Unfortunately I cannot really demo Ivory, so I really need some good advice.
My question is: will Ivory be better or less in quality than the above stated or any other similar priced stage Piano?
I know it also depends on my Cpu power, soundcard and a professional keyboard, but any help is appreciated
Thanks in advance.

my vote is for the stage piano. much less hassle when you have don't have to fiddle with your computer in order to sit down to play piano. plus leaves room in your resources to run other plugins.
and it is hard to find a good weighted masterkeyboard. they are all into the cheap crap. i got myself a used roland a-90ex and it proved to be a good decision for me.

I agree completely, a stage piano is a much more direct experience and it's also a lot easier to carry around. I bought one 3 years ago and I still think it's the best musical purchase I ever made.MelloProg wrote:my vote is for the stage piano. much less hassle when you have don't have to fiddle with your computer in order to sit down to play piano. plus leaves room in your resources to run other plugins.
And you can still get Ivory at a later time!

I tried the Roland RD 700 SX and the Yamaha S 90 ES yesterday, and I did not expect to be this dissapointed!
They just sounded terrible!
The sound wasn't bright and clear at all.
I much prefer Ni Akoustik Piano over that.

Yamaha P60 + Ivory. The P60 is a cheap controller, but has the quality weighted keys that the much higher-end Yamahas have. It's built in piano sounds are fine for quick live gigs, or while your computer is busy rendering a mix.

Are you planning to gig with it? If so, what about a laptop? you need a super fast laptop to run 128 polyphny notes in Ivory.
Laptop + nice controller + ivory is not going to be any cheaper than RD-700SX.
I do have Ivory, and I like the sound, but I won't bet my life on my laptop and ivory for my gig. I use a roland digital piano as my controller just in case something goes worng with my laptop.

Didn't know synthology is into plugins
If you can't or do not want to buy both I would take the roland. It's way more comfortable to have "real" instrument at hand than to be forced to power up a computer every single time.
