key changer / pitch shifter ??????

Hi,

I'm using Tracktion 2 and I have this karaoke song(sound track) I really like but it was arranged in a key that is too high for my voice to sing. Are there any VST plug-ins that allows me to change the key of the orginal song(sound track) higher or lower so I can sing?

What is the correct term for what i'm looking for?
Is it called a key changer or a pitch shifter?
What's the difference between the two anyway?

You're looking for a pitchshifter (as changing key could possible make a minor into a major etc.. which is quite impossible for a plugin to do, i'm afraid), and bram @ smartelectrnoix has one:

i quite like this one because you can control it with midi-commands (didn't see the attraction before i got a host which allowed me to route Trollo to an effect), and it's rather lightweight.

am i the only one who thinks we should really compile these threads into wikipages, and make sure those are the first thing people see when they come here? I feel like people would get a lot better answers if we'd put all the gathered info in one easy to reach place. And while the answer was only one google-search away in this case, i was clueless enough not to know what to google on not too long ago, so i know what it's like.
As it is now, the logical choice is to ask the ' humans' (you're not fooling anyway, runagate!) in the forum, rather than dig through a lot of text that makes no sense to you (yet!) anywy. any thoughts?
