Abandonware alert! I need a new pitch corrector

Frankly the most important part of my studio has died...my OB-Tune wanted to be reauthorised after I changed my motherboard, but I've been told by their distributor that Oberheim is no more and it's totally dead and unsupported now.

Not happy. Although frankly it was not that good.

I'll give GSnap a try but I haven't got the hang of it yet, any advice welcome.

And of course I'll welcome suggestions for a paid-for alternative. Can't work without pitch correction, my vocals are really that bad.

What about investing in singing lessons. Or loop recording till you get a take that is ok. Unless you like the effect of pitch correction. My voice is not that great either but I just record over and over if necessary.

How about downloading a crack for something you legally bought?
Ofcourse, the fact that it's not that good might make that useless, but still.

When I have enough time I tend to do the "splice-from-6-takes" approach which isn't too bad and captures the most interesting performance possible. But a pitch corrector is still valid and helpful to add the required sheen, just like reverb or a compressor really.

If you can find anywhere AKAI pitch right is pretty decent and should be quite cheap.

Oh, i know how an easy thing can be very hard if you're allready used to a similar --but ultimately different-- thing.
And while i know cracks are a taboo here, i'm quite sure very few people would be against using it in this example of restrictive copy-protection gone bad.
Then again, some can get just a bit touchy everytime a conversation turns to the subject, so let's end that here

Have you tried just loading the 'subtle' patch, and turning off notes by clicking on the key (as in, the representation of a physical pianokey )?
The graphical display should update to show you the areas in which things get 'snapped'
If you click the three dots (elipsis is the english term, i guess?) next to the 'fixed' buttong it'll present you with a few options in regards to they scale you want to use, and if you loop a vocal take, you could fiddle with the controls a bit to get it to way you want it.

Setting it to midi instead of fixed is also quite fun. This way you can route midi into it (if your host allows it), and control it this way (holding a key will turn that one on, holding multiple ones will turn multiple ones on.)
This is all from the assumption you're using the standard skin, and not Grymjacks excellent skin-suite, which you can now get on the website as well

This is the reason I will only ever buy software that comes with serial number protection only...have you had a look at melodyne for pitch correction or is that a bit more than you need (having said that I think it's iLok, challenge/response protected too!)?

Thanks for the clarification. What's the alternative to the above methods for Melodyne?

Melodyne is looking more and more attractive actually - especially for creating harmonies etc from absent vocalists. Looks like a great tool. And I'm not too worried about the iLok situation. I gather you can either buy a licence which lives with your machine, or put your licence on an iLok key which you can move around. Since I have a whole bunch of effects now which need dongles, I figure one more won't matter...!
