with all the new programs coming out I am debating on learning something new. my question is does anyone use or have used ableton for creating hip hop tracks. I currently run flstudio with loads of vsti and samples and protools primarily, I've played with reason but I'm not a big fan of it. I know there is a ableton demo but I wanted to hear from anyone who actually creates in ableton on a regular bases.
I think I'm just itching waiting on flstudio 7 and the 7.2 le/mp for pt to drop.

I use Live for a variety of musical styles, not just hip hop. I usually come up with a hip hop tune when it's a throw away from another dance song or something of the sort. 
WIth that being said, ANY host can be utilized for hip hop IMO.
I only have one hip hop tune uploaded to my site. It was created using Live and made for the Copyright Criminal soundtrack (didn't make it though).
Even though it is not featured, I put it up since I got a good response playing it at a party.
The others will see the light of day eventually, when i find the right rapper.

Youcan bang out hip hop in Ableton, although I personally think it suffers a little from somewhat limited quantise & shuffle options or getting really tight grooves.
Riping an audios groove 'feel' using warp markers can be useful though & Live 6 looks as though it will have some audio quantising options that will be very useful.
Guess it depends on how you work.
