I know it's possible because I read about it in here a long time ago. But I can't find it using search.

My question is:
How do I change the tempo within a project? In Cubase SX that is.
For example, the first 3 minutes are in 4/4 120 bmp, and the second part is in 7/8 140 bpm.

And yes, I write prog music.

Steinberg manuals suck, i feel your pain.

its too bad its not easily enough apparent in the program.

You've got to add a tempo track.
In the temp track , click on the draw tool in the toolbar
Select the desired option in the Inset Curve field
Activate the snap grid if you want to position your tempo at the snap modes current grid setting. (esp is you want your tempo changes to occur at bar changes.)
position your cursor in the time and at the tempo height you want to inset the tempo change. You can use the cursor location field to the left of the ruler to guide you along the tempo value.
to add a time sig change:
In the tempo track, click on the draw tool
Click inside the Time Signature bar at the location where you want to insert a time sig change. This will add a time sig ussing the current value displayed in the signature field.
With the new time sig selected ( a red square appears around the selected time sig) change the values in the signature field to represt the appropriate time sig you want to add.

I've got the tempo track added and the tempo curve changed at the right location.
So the tempo changes to where I want it to go at the cursor location.
So far so good.
I can't figure out yet how to change the time signature at that position.

I've never tried these directions myself until last night, and had a little trouble figuring out the time sig according to the directions. But when I discovered it, it's dead easy. Heres a pic

it's small I know, but you see where I have things circled? That's the track where you insert the time sig change.
Click in there where you want it to go, and in the timesig box just click to adjust the timesig you want.
it's really pretty cool stuff, I may have to use it from now on!

Wow..... that last piece was easy indeed.
Why does the fricken manual has such a hard time explaining this?!

Anyway, thanks a lot for the help and for making it visual.
And...uhm....you're welcome.

Most of the things are easy once you know how to do it. Like finding the clue to a card trick.
But if no one tells you, you'll just stand there thinking "WTF?!"

Back to the epic! 6 minutes finished, 20 more to go. Something like that.
