Hi

(haven't found a comparable thread)

As you all know, this site lists a feature comparison:
http://www.steinberg.de/552+M54a708de802.html

But what it doesn't list is for example that in SX you can apply vst effects directly to (single) audio events using

audio event right click > plugins > (choose a plugin)

while you can't do that in SL. this way, you can apply a delay to one single audio event, render the result into this audio event, all with a few clicks (no bounce, no fx channel, no automation etc).

so, are there any other such features which silently fall away if cubase SL is used instead of SX? (this particular example was not listed on the comparison chart)

thanks for any replies and observations!

best wishes,
dtd

anyone?

It is mentioned, Offline Process History where Cubase SL does not support plugins.

thanks majken! well ok when i think of this entry with the fact in mind, then i see the connection. (at least for me) it was not obvious that a missing history for offline process plug-ins means a missing 'apply plugin' feature. :) note to me: always interpret more.

The most important missing features is the surround support, a few plugins and not being able to show inserts in the mixer. You'll learn to work around all limitations though and very very few people need more than what Cubase SL has to offer. But wait a few weeks or so Cubase 4 Studio is just around the corner.

thanks majken, yes i have the same opinion, SL is sufficient for most tasks. thanks for pointing out the fact about not being able to view inserts in the mixer. working around such minor differences is not a problem you're right.

about cubase 4: thanks for the hint also, although i have heard and read many different and contradicting rumors on that :)

cheers!
