Hey,
Iam looking to extend my collection of compressor's once again. Can someone give me a tip on a channel compressor that works good on separate channels in the mix, mainly for drums?
I have been thinking about trying the Voxengo stuff for a while, which one should I get if you can recommend them?
Also, if someone knows of a good bus-compressor, would be awesome. I like sending some channels to the return channels and copress them there.
Thanks alot!

Voxengo/Aleksey offers free trial downloads of (all?) his stuff, so try it out and see for yourself. I like crunchessor on individual channels and elephant on the bus, but specifically for drums I think marquis may be the best fit (check out the samples at http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=146670)

Always an option is Vanilla Compressor, in the same league as Voxengo etc, but free.
For individual drums, Crunchessor is damm great, with its multitude of dynamic options / compresssion behaviour.

Depending on your budget you might want to take a look at an UAD-1: It's compressors (1176, LA2A, Fairchild, brandnew Neve) are *amazing*.
Another top choice is the new URS compressor bundle.
If you're on a very tight budget I'd second Voxengo.

I don't think anything comes close to the new Neve bus compressor on Uad-1

I 2nd Sonalksis. Great all round, and I find it most versatile for drums.
But really, all of the comps listed here are great.
Should really demo em out to fit your taste.
so many to choose from

I agree, there's something about that Sonalksis one...on drums it's just so round and punchy; you can apply a little with great transparency or a lot for killer compression. A real "gear"-like sound.
Marquis is amazing too, I just bought that; killer compressor. These are two VST "classics" in the making!
Also check out the underrated BuzComp CL series. These are pretty amazing-sounding compressors, great for the drum bus also, cheap as dirt.

Lately I'm digging the Sonalksis SV-315, but there are tons of other great compressors out there as well.
For a great channel compressor on drums that's a great price check out Voxengo Crunchessor.
The buzzroom BuzComp CL bundle is a nice package too for this stuff.
