Okay, so me and my friend wants to cover a song by Panic! at the disco - Lying. I was wondering, during the chorus, there's this piano effect sort of like the ones in Stockholm Syndrome - Muse. The link to the chorus part.

Also, I can't figure out what instrument is this. It sounds abit techno-ish.

Hmmm, I think I hear what you mean. I can't say what instrument it is (could just be the guitars + fx, or another instrument) but it certainly has the sound of a filter with high resonance being modulated around the upper frequencies. It might be a delay on the guitars with that filter in the feedback loop.

Actually, if that's what it is, it might not be being modulated, but might rather be a very narrow-bandwidth peak that only resonates when certain notes are being hit.

Unlikely, i'm just kidding, but i swear to god, if you press the random button enough (or if you know what you're doing, program it yourself) you'll get the exact same sound and effect...i've heard it a million times coming out of that thing.

Out of curiosity though, what is a 'testosterone boy'?

Well, not quite.

but the random algorithm is really good, so a fair amount of the randomised patches are more than usable (they may need extra tweaking though).

Woah, one look after opening the VST, its immense, knobs everywhere. Some pointers on using the tip Reverse Engineer? I'm really getting used to ocsillators and stuff but I ain't no pro.

Any help appreciated.

There's a manual in the oatmeal folder, it will tell you the fundamentals. As for being 'pro', you're probably higher up there than me.
