That's pretty cool-looking.
Unfortunately I don't have any way of donating money to Usine to unlock it, yet, so I keep putting off diving head-first into using it.
I will start learning it in more depth today but it seems the recent versions work somehow differently than the old versions I'm more familiar with.
Thanks bobsled. Someday we'll get together and kick out the jams live with Usine and VSTs

May that day be soon, my friend...
...but maybe not before I sound a little less terrible.
I'm learnin', I'm learnin'...
me make pretty noise one day (for more than, like, a minute)

You tried the zero-crossing audio detection or the pitch to midi yet?
As soon as Oliver "premiumed" me on the forum I just jumped straight into constructing.
If only I could get my freakin' soundcard to work with Usine (it's not Usine, the card has AIDS for some reason) I'd kick out the jams for you here and now.

Unfortunately the videos are useless to me.
I've read the manual about 15 times now.
I've tried out their "Making my first patch"
It's not that I don't comprehend what's going on,
it's just a very deep program.
And I am having heinous problems with my sound card.
But all in all thus far today I've come quite a ways.
I think I'll probably have stage-ready songs set up by next weekend judging from the ease of using data in Usine.
The sad thing is that, like always, the limitations are the crapiness of my 1.8 Ghz Sempron and latency, which is really getting insane since myunidentified soundcard glitches started happening.
Heopfully I'll have a demo up tonight, though.

Seriously, any tips along the way would be appreciated especially regarding the polishing technique used on your balls of steel before performing on stage with a half-working soundcard and a 1.8 Ghz Sempron. Or is the polishing part of "the show"...

Yeah, we should post the workspaces or whatever they're called for one another to look at.
In my case I'm making fx chains for 2 voices, with switches for various parts of the songs so that wham, you suddenly have a different set of VSTs and attendant controls on my keyboard to automate parameters (hoping to get into the live sequence thing, too, makes it even easier) and then just play the tracks off my midget's computer.
The only thing that's different from what I was doing before is that Usine is way easier to route things (way, way, way easier) than anything I used before.
Granted, I'm not about to score songs in Usine.
It seems possible but I'm not that far yet.
Tip 1 for newbies: click a parameter of a VST of other module, click Ctrl and drag ot an empty space...
wallah! It's conected to a slider that gets created! Genius, simplu genius.

My god, the MIDI Input implementation and its "have it your way" attitude...you got a button or key, you got control...
...the routing options right on "thru" the master patch with or without effects pre or post fader on input and/or output, and the ability to easily save and recall these patches
...and the user curves in sequencer mode making complex automation a whole lot less complex and waaaaay easier to just jump right in adjusting points on a curve with MIDI CC record just a button away
shock
and
awe

lmao
Yeah, I can't wait to get a grip on the user curves...
Since, live, I intend to play the backing tracks from within Usine then the user curves will automatically adjust my effects at the proper time!!!
Say you're not runagate and you want to do something sensible like have delay just at the end of vocal phrases. Well, figure out where your lyrics go, make a user curve for the wet/dry of the delay and draw it in at the appropriate places on your vocal channel.
Live performance, sequenced effect automation.
Unbelievably awesome.
