It doesn't have to be in there. Almost no hosts have or are promising this feature and I think it's something that's only started to be requested relatively recently.

Not that I wouldn't love this feature! My God, this would make life so much easier! But I wouldn't hold my breath. Make sure you send them a feature request, though; they won't know if you don't tell them.

... I have only SX2, but hasn't this already been possible with some Makro with SX3? I remember having read something like that at cubase.net...

Yeah, there's a batch-export Macro available there. It never worked for me, not even a little bit. But it works for some.

I have 4 hosts on my system (I teach music - that's my excuse!). They are Live 6, Sonar 5, Audition 2 and Tracktion 2. All four have this feature - three have had it for as long as I can remember, and Live has just added it for the new version (which I am beta testing). I'm just suprised Cubase doesn't have this as I assumed it was pretty standard.

OK, but note most of those are within the last year or so (mind you, ACID could export track-by-track since its beginning, AFAIK!). I'm just saying that you didn't hear a peep about this feature, say, when Nuendo first came out; everybody was too busy being wowed with their DAWs, VST effects and amazing possibilities, I think. And it's only in the last year or two that I'm feeling a groundswell for this feature, as people tire of exporting one-by-one. I totally agree: I would like to see a less awkward export dialogue in general, incorporating this feature.

Maybe Cubase 4 will have it anyway - it's not really a headline feature compared with all the other good stuff they have lined up for this update!

One can only hope! And remember: they always deliver one knockout update after a year or so.

I leafed through the manual, and it doesn't seem to be there.

Same with the can-only-route-to-higher-numbered-bus limitation.

Still there.

Both of these should've been taken care of, very frequently whined about and mentioned at cubase.net.

at least they're both relatively minor hitches.

Shit. The bus limitation is something they really need to change.

And where is this damned manual?

Flesible routing and sidechain will be on next revion of C4.
I don't think there at present time any feature that would be more useful than Batch Export.
Track Presets: Acon EffectChainer €0, save preset to apply off line and port to other hosts
too, Loop Browsing: Ableton Live Demo 0€ or else Live Lite that comes bundled with a lot of controller, mean i already have my ass covered on that dpt.
Generic Remote: Perhaps save the money of the upgrade to get a Novation Remote, well i already ordered C4... ramble mode, you know?

I'm 99% certain that the "higher-numbered-bus" limitation is a negative side-effect of having full PDC everywhere. So, until all plugins produce inaudible latency, it'll probably be something we have to deal with.

Actually, a good number of the popular sequencers have it, and have had it for a long time. Let's see, Orion Platinum, FL Studio, Sonar, Tracktion, Logic Pro, Acid, and at leat a couple others I can't think of off hand. That feature was at the top of my list too and a lot of people did "recently" begin to ask about it over on Cubase.net recently. I was hoping that it would lead to Steinberg adding it. It's also not a feature that I've ever seen mentioned in a featurelist so, maybe they added it and just didn't feel it worthy of mentioning. I hope that's the case.
