I have been watching patiently all month for Ableton to give us a little more than "Coming in September"... it is almost through that month and there has been no new announcemtns... the website is the same and stores don;t know what is going on... Is it coming out next week or will it be delayed for a while?... I am getting ansy since I have a dual core and want to take advantage of its new processing (Kore Sounds are awesome but killing my CPU with how much Layering I can do in them)
Anybody know or are we all in the dark?
Anyone know the Status of Live 6?

i thought they were being rather brave when they announced the shipping date, but i've not heard any bad stories from the beta testers.
release candidate 1 was posted today, so they'll prob just make it within september.

At present they are testing beta 18, and they have extended the testing group to more than a 1000 users now. However, before release I would expect to see another couple of versions for the existing group, followed by one or more "Release Candidates". There were about 6 of those last year IIRC, each taking a couple of days.
So by my reckonning they have a couple more weeks testing to go at least before the public release.
Regarding notification of a specific date, last year that didn't happen. When they were happy they simply released it. Don't forget that it can be purchased as a download upgrade. Even if you buy the box you can still download it in the meantime - obviously it takes a few days to press the CDs (the boxes and manuals, etc, are all ready to go!). So you can download the version as soon as it is released and the box will follow in the post (including the Essential Instrument Collection, which is only available with the boxed version.)
As I say, this is based on last year's experience. There is no reason to doubt that the same rules will apply this year. I hope that helps.
