gol has mentioned his never supporting an adaptive playlist, being able to view multiple time signatures.

it will always be this way, so anyone looking to use certain changing time signatures, and expecting them to line up nicely along with the playlist, dont bother with FL.

sorry, its a rudimentary feature that perhaps you dont need.

I will commence doing both, i can guarantee. I am in the process of "getting another host" but i figure others should be warned of this severe shortcoming, dude.

Indeed -- I can think of a heap of things that FLS does that many other hosts do not or can not support.

But, as I understand it, Gol will put a midi-controlled coffee maker into the next release.

I think you have to look at it in perspective -- there are ways around the problem, though a bit more time-consuming.

Gol has also made such finite claims before, only to eventually capitulate to users desires.

But I cannot see why that would be such a show-stopper for you

Here's a file that proves it's easy:

It's a bar of 7/8 followed by a bar of 4/4 (using two patterns of 2/4 for a variation fill) followed by a bar of 5/8. Dead simple. Took about a minute to think up and sequence with a mouse.

Use the zoom tool in the playlist. Butt the end of bars against each other according to a snap setting of your choice. Eigth notes might be a good start in terms of testing this, and keep in mind you can have things in the playlist overlap each other in time if you want (both in a single lane and in the stacked lanes). Just because the little box has a graphical start and end doesn't mean all the notes inside it have to be slaves to that.

Then just set the pattern length to be as long as you need, perhaps 7 or some other non 4ish number. Try not to think of music as little boxes that have to line up, but rather think of the pulse of the music and what you want to happen next. I think you are not getting the concept of how to subdivide a measure or else this aspect of FLS would be obvious to you because there's at least two ways to introduce odd meters into arrangements.

However, I do realize that the little bar numbering system at the top of the playlist isn't going to be of any use at this point. But to be honest, who looks at that anyway? You can see how many patterns are in a chorus. Does one need to know that its bar 32?
