Wow thats a long subject line.. I'm sure this has been asked before but I need a plugin that will amp a mic and give the signal a warm analog saturated feel. The signal is coming in from a low level mic line insert.. I would like to processes/amp the audio after being recorded to a drive.. Please be patient please be gentle please let me know..

Phantom power is required for mic's (if you're referring to condenser...Low level). Antares Mic modeller is good for mic presets however, some good Waves compression will get you all the "warm analog" feel that you're looking for. My two staples for such.

Nothing specifically tape-like, but for an interesting saturation effect, try out Kingston's Retroband/Retrobandlite.

Hmm thanks for response.. I use phantom power on my condensers in the studio but right now I have a laptop and a shure cardoid I need to amp up.. I can do all of the noise reduction stuff flawlessly but Its the preamp I'm trying to emulate.. Damm I wish I had remote access to my studio comp all my plugins are there..

Is there an all in one/bundle plugin/solution for this?

Both Kjaerhus and Voxengo have pretty good channel strip effects. Worth checking, but won't really give you an analog-like saturation.

Forget about it. Because of the very low input signal the D/A converter is fed with you'll get a low resolution signal that no plugin in the world is going to fix. Amping the mic can only done by a preamp BEFORE the A/D converter stage. Thus you need an external preamp.

xlr to 1/4" to 1/8". A telescoping piss-poor solution.

Oh I see, you actually want to boost the signal as a pre-amp, not just the channel strip/saturation effects. Yeah, what living sounds just said, it isn't going to be pretty.

You're looking for a virtual Liquid Channel combined with something like a Portico 5042...Doesn't exist yet (unfortunately). The real thing will set you back a couple of shifts! There's no easy way to accomplish what you're looking for accurately.
