I need to get something to warp polyphonic guitar parts to different tempos. For instance, making a 2 minute guitar part played mostly with major chords fit into 1:30 seconds.

I know that the best thing is to just NOT warp the time and record it, but that's just not possible.

What is the best plugin or app? (Please no lectures about re-recording! I already know them...)

I know waves has something called soundshifter, and I'm not sure about the others. I think Ableton has something built in, but I don't know how good it is. I'm guessing it's more for drums.

Help enlighten me.
I already know that I suck.

If I understand your query correctly, I would say Melodyne - not cheap of course.

check out Izotope Radius, they have samples on their site and a demo you can download as well.

Radius is Logic-only, yes?

Deafboy, what's your setup? It would help if we knew what you're using and which platform. If you're using Cubase, for instance, it comes with a good timestretch algorithm licenced from Prosoniq, but I don't know what you're using. I can say forget about plugins; you'll get your best results with offline processing, so your CPU can apply itself fully to the task.

I think Digidesign have licensed the technology as well - could be wrong though

would make sense though since iZotope is distributed by Maudio which is (as well as Digidesign) a part of Avid

Not an effect but a host, try Sony Acid.
