With Digidesign/Avid's purchase of Wizoo many moons ago and the developers being rebranded as the "Advanced Research Instruments Group" for Digidesign related products, has anyone heard if development will continue on the Wizooverb W2 and W5?

The reason I ask is I'm desirous in picking up an IR reverb for Live. My transition from Logic to Live is almost complete and the only thing that I'm still looking for is a nice IR reverb…I was very impressed with the W2 demo, but I'm hesitant to make the purchase if it is a "dead product."

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I think it's worth the risk at that price. I believe they've sold a lot of units at the sale price, which may bode well for updates/maintenance.

Not long time ago price was around two hundred, and all of the sudden it dropped to hundred bucks.
Demos on M-audio site are good.....

Do you know where it is still available for $100? I checked audiomidi and they are back up to $199 and I kicked myself for waiting.

scitscat has it for $129 and free shipping on ebay. If you contact his store directly (and cut out ebays middleman fees) i'm sure he'll go lower, just tell him you seen his sell on ebay (the sale is'nt at his store, he charges $199 there). contact him at his store and try to arrange to do business without ebay and ask for a better price, or if you wish contact him at ebay and buy it for $129 from ebay auction.Gigapulse is on sale at his store for $99 for your information as well.

Thanks for the heads-up sounddesigner! You made my decision a little easier ... thus I jumped in.

Made a bid of $108 US and Scot at Scitscat accepted. Should have the W2 within the week.

Scot has 9 left if you are interested. As polysax said with the reduced price, it makes the risk a little more pallitable.

$108 is very cheap! Scot always gives great deals on stuff, everytime i shop with him i leave well satisfied with a smile on my face, and quite often i bought brand new software from scitscat for the price some sell it used for on ebay.

I hope digidesign keeps wizooverb 2 on the market for all, because it is really one of my top favorite reverbs. I won't be that mad if they take it off the market after releasing a vista update to get us going with, that's all i care about.

When you receive wizooverb in the mail post your opinions on it after you've toyed with it awhile!

Got mine 3 weeks ago - easy install, given its versatility-short learning curve, and a zero latency setting(factory, and not to bad on the cpu) - you won't regret it.

has any wizoo product, or steinberg non-sequencing product (or 'formally steinberg non-sequencing product') ever had a future? ever? i can't name even one.

it seems even being remotely connected with steinberg is the kiss of death for vstfx and vsti product. I would go for it if you are happy with the value for what you get at the moment.... but given the track record of the development personnel involved, you are absolutely insane and psychotic if you buy it based on anything that may happen in the future.

i think this is the right attitude to take with ANY purchase, to be honest, but its especially muchmoreso when we are talking about products that were affiliated with steinberg (excepting cubase) or wizoo.

err pro-52 and recycle both started with steinberg so .......... your opinion is a touch ill informed

pro-52 was a NI product from the start, and Recycle was a Propellerhead product from the start... unless i'm missing a MAJOR piece of history...

where did you get this fascinating information? I'd love to hear more!

I remember NI as a standalone company with no connection to steinberg since long before Pro-52 was even a product....back in the days of Generator, which was fascinating tech at the time, but not something i could afford. Generator morphed into Reaktor as it matured, and Pro-52 spun out of their dev cycle shortly after.

I also recall Propellerhead's early days when they only had ReCycle, and it was mostly used with hardware samplers and (i believe) was initially only for Apple computers - a Swedish standalone company also with no connection to Steinberg that I am aware of.

(ps. I don't consider "developed by an ex-steinberg employee for his new employer" to count, for pretty obvious reasons - sort of like saying that the Swedish security firm who currently employs me used to wash dishes at O'Toole's Roadhouse in Ottawa!)
